The maps illustrate changes and development of the Village of Stokeford from 1930 to 2010.
It is clear from the first map that the village is located on the east side of river Stoke, and it is divided into two parts by a main road, which runs from south to north and meets the river at a bridge in the north. In 1930, there were a small number of buildings along the road, including houses, shops, a post office, a primary school and a big garden with a large house. There were two areas of farmland: while one lay in the northeast, the other was situated in the southwest.
In 2010, the main road was extended to the east and west, and along the new branches were a large number of newly built houses. As a consequence of this, the original farmlands and shops disappeared, while the size of the garden was reduced and the previous large house was replaced by a retirement home. What is also worthing mentioning is that the area of the primary school was expanded.
Overall, great changes had taken place in village Stokeford by 2010, and the most obvious one is that it developed to accommodate more population.
