The best advice I ever had was from my dad.He always(used to) gives me some advice, but I seldom take(took) it to heart. One day when he learned there would be a speech contest in my school,he wanted me to join(enter it).In the beginning,I didn't have much confidence. But (since he) my father kept encouraging me,I( finally) singed in(up). Before the speech beginning(contest),I made a lot of preparations. At last the day came.(When it was my turn to give aspeech,I was so nervous that my mind became a complete blank and I forgot most of my speech.Being a loser was so(such a) painful experience that I didn't have any (had no )appetite for dinner (that evening). I (even) blamed my father for the whole thing. Then, He said ,; my son ,don't take a contest like that so seriously,Life is like (a) battlefield.you (often)have to fail(lose) many times to win the final victory. (Thanks to his advice, I'm far more confident than before. Now)I was no quitter when doing anything.
