lesson26 The best art critics 最佳美术评论家
I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture is 'about'. Of course, many pictures are not 'about' anything. They are just pretty patterns. We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material. I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone else. They notice more. My sister is only seven, but she always tells me whether my pictures are good or not. She came into my room yesterday. ' What are you doing ?' she asked. ' I'm hanging this picture on the wall,' I answered. 'It's a new one. Do you like it ?' She looked at it critically for a moment.' It's all right,' she said, 'but isn't it upside-down ?' I looked at it again. She was right! It was!

My brother is an art student and he paints a great many pictures. I love pictures just because they are pretty but the grown-ups always love to tell me what the the pictures are about. I love them in the same way that I love pretty curtain material and beautiful carpets. I understand little significance of the pictures. But my brother said I appreciate modern arts than anyone else because I alway can tell him whether his picture good or not. Yesterday, he was hanging a picture on the wall when I went into his room. He told me that it was new and asked how I do like it. I found it is pretty nice but it was upside-down.

I am an art teacher. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture means. Meanwhile[=> Similarly], many students think that they understand modern art. They believe many pictures are just pretty patterns and are about nothing. They even compare art pictures with curtain material. I think every picture should have its soul. The real significance of a picture could not be easily understood by a person without any professional knowledge. One of my students tell me that his seven-year-old sister can appreciate the modern art than anyone else. It is simply a joke because she is just able to tell whether a picture is beautiful or not rather than good or not.
