On Christmas day, we went to my boyfriend's mom's house around 8am from hotel Silver Legacy. My boyfriend's mom cooked blueberry pancake for breakfast, which is kind of special for us. Because we know she doesn't like cooking at all, and we always eat outside. After breakfast, everyone sat in the living room, got ready for opening Christmas gifts. They put me on a Santa Claus hat and beard, making me pretend to be Santa Claus to distribute gifts to others. That was pretty funny and exciting! I was busy between sending gifts to others and opening my own gifts. I felt like going to my childhood, so excited and anxious to get my boxes open to see what all the goodies in there. I found my long lost excitement back in celebrating festival.
Not sure since when I haven't been feeling any special or excited in celebrating our traditional festivals, especially Chinese New Year Festival. Eating and playing majiang are pretty much what we all do for celebrating new year. We give money as gifts insteading of spending time and energy on buying actual gifts and wrapping gifts. So there isn't much effort needed to prepare for holiday, except full table food. Sometimes we just have dinner with big family in the hotel on new year eve. I just become lazy and careless on celebrating. I think I need to change and do something on our new year festival this year. Pick up some traditional doings on new year festival, like making dumplings with family, decorating house more, or maybe try to buy something as gifts to my family and friends instead of just giving money, coz there are curious, exciting, anxious feelings in the process of opening gift box, which is a fun experience.
