When asked “What’s the biggest mistake we make in life?” the buddha replied. “The biggest mistake is you think you have time.”

Time is free but it’s priceless.
时间是免费的，也是无价的
You can’t own it, but you can use it.
你不能拥有它，但是能利用它
You can’t keep it, but you can spend it.
你不能留住它，但是能消耗它.
And once it’s lost you can never get it back.
并且一旦错过了，再也无法找回。
That average person lives 78 years.
人的平均寿命是78岁。
We spend 28.3 years of our life sleeping.
其中有28.3年是在睡眠中度过的。
That’s almost a third of our life but 30% of us struggle to sleep well.
三分之一的人都睡在睡觉，还有30%的人还想睡多一些
We spend 10.5 years of our life working, but over 50% of us want to leave our current jobs.

Time is more valuable than money.

You can get more money, but you can never get more time.

We spend 9 years on TV and social media.

We spend 6 years doing chores.
我们有6年的时间，花费在杂务上。
We spend 4 years eating and drinking.
我们有4年的时间，花费在吃喝上。
We spend 3.5 years in education.
我们有3.5年的时间，花费在教育上。
We spend 2.5 years grooming.
我们有2.5年的时间，花费在打扮上。
We spend 2.5 years shopping.
我们有2.5年的时间，花费在购物上。
We spend 1.5 years in child care.
我们有1.5年的时间，花费在关爱孩子上。
We spend 1.3 years commuting.
我们有1.3年的时间，花费在交通上。
That leaves us with 9 years.
How will we spend that time?
只剩下9年时间，我们要怎么度过呢？
Steve Jobs said: “your time is limitied so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

So there’s good news and there’s bad news.
所以，既有好的一面，也有坏的一面。
The bad news is time flies, the good news is you’re the pilot.
坏的一面是，时间飞逝，好的一面是，你才是时间的主人。
Imagine you wake up everyday with $86400 in your bank acount, and at the end of the night it’s all gone whether you spend it of not.
想象一下，当你每天醒来，银行账户上就会有86400美金，不管你是不是消费，这一天过去后，这笔钱都会消失。
And then the next day you get another $86400. What will you do with it?
第二天，你的账户上还会再有86400美金，你会怎么做？
Everyday 86400 seconds are deposited into your life acount.
每天，你的人生账户上都会存入86400秒。
At the end of the day once they’re all used up you get a new 86400 seconds.
一天过去后，这些时间不复存在，然后你还会再有86400秒。
We would never waste it if it was money.
So why do we waste it when it comes to time?
如果是钱，我们不会浪费，那么，如果是时间，我们为什么要浪费呢？
Those seconds are so much more powerful than dollars because you can always make more dollars, you can’t always make more time.
时间比金钱更重要，因为你能赚很多钱，却不能赚取时间。
To realize the value of one year, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of 1 minute, ask the person who just missed a bus, train or plane.

To realize the value of 1 second, ask the person who just missed an accident.
如果想知道一秒钟的价值，问一问那些与事故擦肩而过的人吧！
To realize the value of a milisecond, ask the person who just came 2nd at the Olympics.
如果想知道一毫秒的价值，问一问奥运会上的亚军吧！
We think it’s people wasting our time but it’s really us giving them the permissinon to do that.
我们以为是人们浪费了时间，其实正是我们自己，给了时间浪费的可能。
And in reality, these 2 people live inside us.
现实中，我们的内心总是并存两个人。
Don’t let someone be a priority when all you are to them is an option.
不要给别人优先权，而你只是一个备选项。
Some of us lose the people most important to us because we don’t value their time.
我们当中，有些人因为不珍惜时间，而错过了重要的人。
Some of us don’t recognize how important someone is to us until they’re gone.
我们当中，有些人只有失去了，才意识到那些人的重要性。
Inside all of us are 2 voices-
我们每个人的内心，都有两个声音——
I voice that wants us to uplift, i voice that wants us to expand.
一个声音让我们高尚，一个声音让我们膨胀。
I voice that wants us to grow, and then there’s the other voice-
一个声音让我们成长，而另一个声音——
The voice that holds us back.
阻止我们前进
The voice that makes us lazy.
让我们懒惰
The voice that makes us complacent.
让我们自满
The voice that restricts from our potential.
阻碍我们发挥潜能
Everyday from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to sleep, inside of us there’s this battle between 2 voices.
每天从早到晚，这两个声音一直在不停斗争。
And guess which one wins?
试想，哪一个会胜出呢？
The one that we listen to the most.
是我们听的最多的
The one that we feed.
是我们付出更多的
The one that we amplify.
还有我们更看重的
It is our choice of how we use our time.
怎么利用时间，是我们自己的选择。
Life and time are the best two teachers.
生活和时间是两个最好的老师。
Life teaches us to make good use of time.
生活教会我们合理安排时间。
Time teaches us the value of life.
时间教会我们生活的价值。
And as William Shakespeare said:
如莎翁所说：
“Time is very slow for those who want,
对于索取的人来说，时间是缓慢的
very fast for those who are scared,
对于恐惧的人来说，时间是飞快的，
very long for those who are sad,
对于悲痛的人来说，时间是漫长的

but for those who love,
对于有爱的人来说
time is eternal."
