Famous entertainers and athletes have a vast amount of influence over the society. Lang Ping, the famous volleyball player and coach, is an excellent example of the type of star who is worthy of admiration from her fans. If I could meet famous athletes, I would choose to meet Lang Ping.
Lang Ping, born in Tianjin, China, she played the leading role in the success of the Chinese women's volleyball team in the 1980s. Known as the "Iron Hammer", Lang Ping was an outside hitter of the Chinese National Women's Team and one of the team members who won several of golden medals in the world events.
Lang Ping is not only a successful volleyball player, her career as a volleyball coach is also a legend. In 1995, Lang became the head coach of the Chinese national team and eventually guided the squad to the silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. As the coach of the US National Team in 2005, Lang guided the team to defeat the host team in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and won the silver medal finally. On August 21, 2016, Lang Ping guided the Chinese national team to the gold medal at 2016 Rio Olympics.
Lang Ping's achievements in her sport career are not the only reason why I admire her. More importantly, I am moved by his personality. Being a national icon after her success as a sport player, she did not choose to become a sports administration official, as most of her teammates did. Rather, she decided to leave the sporting spotlight behind and went to the US for further study. When the Chinese National Team hoped that she could return China and take over the team again, in spite of her hesitation about the balance between her career and family, she finally made her decision to charge the team. I admire her courage to shoulder the responsibility.
