Today is Tuesday.
Despereaux must do something to make himself be brave. He remembered the story that he had read in the library for many times. So he recited the story loudly, "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess and a knight who always wore a shining silver armor." "Once upon a time?" boomed a voice from the darkness. "What does a mouse know of such things?" That voice, the loudest voice that Despereaux had ever heard, could only, he assumed, belong to the world's largest rat. Despereaux's small, overworked heart stopped beating. And for the second time that day, the mouse fainted. When he woke up, he found himself was cupped in a huge human hand. He stared through a fire ligh made by a match. A man who named himself Gregory was looking at him. He held Despereaux tightly in his hand and told Despereaux that he was an old jailer in the dungeon. He told the rats were coming for Despereaux and preparing to eat Despereaux at all.
