Q1. When John finished the letter from Savannah, he longed to talk to her and he wanted to fly home immediately, or at least call her. However, he didn’t do that. He volunteered for any mission regarded as dangerous，escaping intothe only world that still seemed real to him.
Q2. Baghdad fell inIraq.
Q3.John was sent back to Germany after he left Iraq. His squad was full of newbies.
Q4.His dad had a second heart attack and condition continued to worsen is the reason why John ask for a transfer back home again in June 2005.
Q5.The condition of John’s father continueed to worsen. John's father seemed to have aged thirty years. His skin was almost gray, and he lost much weight. Also, he lost the abilities for his body to function at all. Although John’s father disagree to go to the extend care facility，John would go back to unit lead to he accept it.
这次离开家以后糟糕的事情似乎接踵而至，John一下陷入了情绪低谷。先是Savannah的分手信让他不知道怎么解决，最后选择逃避到自己世界 投身战场来麻痹自己的悲伤。可是战场恶劣的环境还有战场的残酷也给John的内心带来的打击 战后也总是被噩梦困扰。自己参军的队伍也换走了老朋友 或许新生是友善的，John也不再愿意融入 开始了自己独自的生活。再之后父亲第二次心脏病发作 并且身体越来越差。看到日渐消瘦的父亲 勾起了John很多与父亲的回忆。
时间的流逝，世上唯一不变的就是改变了。接受改变也是痛苦的。
