1. bring somebody/something to their knees

今天书中提到的一个Win/Win management training的例子让我印象很深刻。因为我大学毕业刚工作的时候也进行过这种毕业生培训。
一个银行集团为了让刚毕业的大学生能尽快上手工作,每年都花大笔资金给这些毕业生进行为期6个月的培训。可是效果并不是很好。
当作者对他们的培训计划改变了以后,不仅培训费减少了,培训时间也从6个月减少到了5周,但是这些新人的水平反而比之前培训后的高。这到底是如何做到的?
因为作者明确了这个Agreement里的五个因素:desired results,guide,resources,accountability and consequences.和之前delegation里提到过的五要素一样。他们对这个培训设计了明确的目标,目标达成接着就可以成为经理助理。
这种培训方式只关注最后的结果,而不管实际的过程。这种方式是Learner-controlled instruction,而不是传统的system-controlled。这种情况下培训者会充分的发挥主动学习的能力,尽快达到目标。想起Eric经常和我们说的:越主动,越有收获。
我想到了自己刚毕业时的培训,也是6个月,我们的培训就是system-controlled,完全由培训部安排好,目标很模糊,或者根本就没有吧,我完全记不起来。考核的标准也没有,好像是培训完一部分做一套小题(大家都是互相抄)。但是这个培训对我即将工作的岗位有什么作用,完全不知道,根本没有任何针对性。典型的看起来很美的培训。当然还是有作用,大家的关系特别好,像是同学一样亲切,这在工作以后是很难有的。
