When was the last time you go to the pool.
yesterday? last week? last month? or last year? or long time ago?
What stops you from go to the pool? For me there are nothing can stop me from that.
1. my experience
(how I found swim the best sports for me)
Look at me I am not a sports person. Actually I hated working out when I was young. I used to practiced 800 meters running everyday but just get a good score in the P.E exams.
I did not know how to swim until 21 years old. Because my dad don’t allow me to go swimming because he believe I will be drawn to death in the pool. Then in a summer vacation of 3rd year of collage, I determined to learn how to swim, I told my father I have to learn so I won’t be drawn to death when I accidentally fall in to water.
That summer vacation I spend 15 days to finish a 30 days lesson. I swim 4 hours a day. At the end of the summer, all my clothes are one size bigger to fit my body.
Amazing! This is the first time I was surprised that people can truly get slimmer by working out.
As an office worker, sitting in front of desk day after day, I was losing my physical energy.
Several years since I graduate, I felt tired all the time. One day when I walk out of office around 11:30pm, I feel that I don’t even have the strength to walk to the station. That scared me.
I think I have to solve this problem.
So I started to run. That really helped. I felt better. I got my strength again.
In order to do better, I run 5 km 4 times a week. After 2 month I felt something wrong with my knees, so I stopped.
I know I got a knees injury because of my lack of knowledge to protect knees.
That is the time I when pickup swim as my new exercise routine again.
These years swim give me more than an energetic body.
Also, I don’t need to worry about my knees anymore! My shoulder never felt pain even after long hours work.
And I got a peaceful mind. Why? Because when you swim, the water separated you from the world. All you can do is counting the rounds and concentrated on your breath. Is that familiar? yeah, that is meditation.
2. for the audience, classify different needs, and give each class a reason to go swimming
Swimming is one of the sports that everyone can do. No matter your body condition, financial condition and time condition.
So I strongly recommend you to start swimming regularly. Even once a month can benefit.
Here are reasons:
1. for people who have not much time for workout, swim is easier to become a routine for you.
Unlike basketball or tennis, swimming is a the exercise you can do by yourself.
So you can schedule it easily.
2. For people who want to look good
It is a great way to burn calories: an hour of swimming burns 500 calories. Also when you swim, the pushes of water actually give your skin a good massage, which could make your skin tight and smooth.
3. For those who already doing other workout
Swim can reduce the stress on your joints and soft tissues like knees. If you need aerobic exercise after muscle training, swim could be a good choice.
4. For those who have healthy problems
Last week I even saw a lady who need to use stick to walk on the land can swim freely in the pool.
Swim is one of the safest sport according to the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research.
Besides, it can help balance your blood pressure and normalizes pulse rate. It also beneficial to enhance lung function and breathing control.
So how do you think?
I guess the last excuse of not go to swim is, gym is expensive and you don’t have a swimming pool to go.
Actually, I found that there are a lot of public pool in Japan.
Only in Yokohama city there are 13 public in-house pool, only cost 300-600 yen an hour. You can always find one to go. If you can take a long way to join toastmaster clubs 2 time a month, I think you can also take the same time to go swim even once a month. So you can improve you mind here, and improve your body in the swimming pool. Perfect!!
As it is getter warmer, perfect timing to start swim. Give yourself a chance, let's enjoy the pool!
