scene2: the gumbie cat, Jennyanydots, wear a plump coat usually languorous in the day.
scene3: three female cats sing in an allegro and dance, introducing her alter ego in the night. The gumbie cat is unsatisfied with the mice’s behaviour and teaches them music, crocheting and tatting
scene4: male cat reappears at the gumbie cat’s side and sings another adagio. the three female cats continue to sing and dance. the gumbie cat trains the cockroaches into a troop of well-disciplined helpful boy scouts. A team of cockroaches go onstage and line up.
