8. CHAPTER 14
• After the Hab incident and a lot of backbreaking effort, Watney manages to fix the Hab and reestablish communication with the Earth. However, while the Oxygenertor and Water Reclaimer are now functional, Watney is facing a terrible problem. What is the problem? Why can't he solve it?
The problem is food shortage. His plants are dead, the harvested potatoes are dead, too. No more plants.
9. CHAPTER 15
• Do you really think you can take a break from the series of intense events? We know from Ch.14 that Watney is doomed if he doesn’t get food supply in time. So various teams on the Earth have been literally working around clock to put together Project Iris. What is the outcome of this project? And please share your thoughts on it.
The project failed. I think there's no other way given the situation. The project has a chance to save Watney, but it failed due to the cancellation of check process to meet the time limitation. That's reasonable, all they need was good luck, which they didn't have.
10. CHAPTER 16
• With the failure of Project Isis, everyone is devastated. But, the show must go on. So the Chinese step in to lend a helping hand. The higher-ups at NASA are presented with two rescue options, one risky, and the other riskier. Who is it that makes the final decision? And how?
Lewis made the final decision to risk the crew's life and go with the risker plan. She made the decision with her crew members after receiving the maneuver of Rich Purnell's sent by Mitch.
