Last month,my partners and I organized the 6th anniversary party of Qingdao TMC,at the beginning,there were only about 20 participants to take part in this party,in addition,almost participants came from the organizing committee of this party.Aurora,our club president, felt a little disappointed when she knew the situation.She joked me:Apple,your strong organizing committee can match the scale of organizing committee of Qingdao conference.I said :luckily we have an organizing committee,otherwise,we can not get enough participants. During that period,I worked hard to organize this party, felt very tired and busy,the day before the party ,I said to Michelle,our SAA :Hi,Michelle,I am very happy because the party day is coming,after tomorrow,i will relax.But in the party day, beyond my expectation,there were total 40 people to participate in the party,and the party went very well.So Rick said to me:Apple,I see something in you.Then he invited me to be his assistant to hold the outing in Jun. I said:no problem except being the director,because It is too tired as a director. Rick encouraged me:But you can grow most quickly through it.That is true,through organizing the 6th anniversary party,my self-confidence and leadership increased greatly, from this experience,i learned that your growth only depends on you.
The same thing happened recently,as you know,there were some toastmasters members had not taken part in meeting for a long time, when our officers made phone calls and invited them to go to meeting, they would say they were very busy, had no time to go to meeting.I understood them very well because I had the same experience. In 2014,I had not gone to meeting for 4 months because my baby was too young to leave ,so I should take care of her, in addition,I was afraid that I could not make a speech fluently because I forgot many English words due to no using them for a long time.I remembered wave called me and invited me to go to meeting, Wave said:Hello,Apple,long time no see you!How do you do recently?We sincerely welcome you to our club meeting,in this week,we will have a very interesting meeting,we invite a big shot to share the skills of blablabla ...so, this week meeting, will you come?I listened to wave ,looked at my cute and very young daughter, and said politely: Wave,I’m very sorry, my daughter is too young to leave, so I should take care of her in my spare time, I have no time to go to meeting. I’m very sorry. Then, hung up the phone.提问，Our club officer,Parker,do you think it is familiar as you experienced recently?
But above all, as our president Aurora said , Toastmasters is a spontaneous learning organization, here, you can not only practice your English ,but also your self-management, your growth only depends on you. That’s true, because I made speeches one by one by myself, I completed all CC and ACB speeches ,I became a better speaker than before, because I often took the meeting’s roles of, and ran for the club officer, my self-confidence and leadership increased greatly .On this Tuesday, I got a notice that I passed the English test of expatriate staffs held by my company’s headquarters, so tomorrow I will continue to take part in an interview and a paper test. If I can also pass, I will have an opportunity to work in USA or Canada for 1 year. So this will also demonstrate again that your growth only depends on you. Every week, you insist on going to meeting, not for other people ,but for your own growth, changes and breakthrough .Just as Alex Chen said in his book: The gap between a good speaker and a not good speaker is 50 speeches ,and the gap between a good speaker and an advanced speaker is 500 speeches , every time, you stand on the stage to deliver a speech or take the meeting’s role, you can achieve growth. So our club VPE Han asks you to complete your CC and ACB speeches one by one and take meeting’s roles. We sincerely welcome all of you and other absent members to participate in toastmasters meeting as much as possible, because your growth only depends on you.
