➡️：When I was only six years old,I saw an exciting picture in True story,a book describing the original forest.In the drawing,a gigantic snack eating a big beast.There is a copy in the page.

✏️：Once when I was six years old I saw a magnificent picture in a book, called True Stories from Nature, about the primeval forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor in the act of swallowing an animal. Here is a copy of the drawing.

➡️：Describing in the book:thoes gigantic snake swallow their pray without chewing it,then they stayed put,so that they can digest these food in next long six months.

✏️：In the book it said: "Boa constrictors swallow their prey whole, without chewing it. After that they are not able to move, and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion."

➡️：In that time,I had a lot of amazing images of experience in forest.Then I draw my first picture by my pencil.my first work looked like this：

✏️I pondered deeply, then, over the adventures of the jungle. And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number One. It looked like this:

➡️：I let adults see my picture，and asked_ whether my drawing thrills them.But they answered "why do they fear a hat "

✏️：I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered: "Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?"

➡️：I didn't draw a hat,it was a gigantic snake and an elephant.So I draw the circumstances happened in snake belly that they can understand.While these people always need explanation. My second work look liked this:

✏️：My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained. My Drawing Number Two looked like this:

➡️：These adult asked me to put these pictures aside,describing the open belly or closed snake,and focus on geography,history and algorithm,grammar.Owing to this,I gave up a nice career of being a drawer at six years old.The failure of my first and second work let me down.Thess adult,didn't understand anything so that I always explaining for them.How boring it was for children.

✏️：The grown-ups' response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside, and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.

➡️：Then,I had to choose another career,I have learned to be a pilot,almost have flied  to everywhere in the world.Surely,geography knowledge has played an important role.I can distinguish the China from  Arizona with a glance.If I lost at night,this's useful.

✏️：So then I chose another profession, and learned to pilot airplanes. I have flown a little over all parts of the world; and it is true that geography has been very useful to me. At a glance I can distinguish China from Arizona. If one gets lost in the night, such knowledge is valuable.

➡️：In this way,I had amount of connection with those people in my life.I had lived long time with adult,observing them carefully,without changing my thoughts of them enough.

✏️： In the course of this life I have had a great many encounters with a great many people who have been concerned with matters of consequence. I have lived on a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn't much improved my opinion of them.

这样，在我的生活中，我跟许多严肃的人有过很多的接触

➡️：When I found a clear thought man,I would test he with my first work.I want to know whether he has understanding truly.However,the answer always is "this is a hat ".

✏️：Whenever I met one of them who seemed to me at all clear-sighted, I tried the experiment of showing him my Drawing Number One, which I have always kept. I would try to find out, so, if this was a person of true understanding. But, whoever it was, he, or she, would always say:"That is a hat."

➡️：So I didn't talk to gargantuan snake,original forest and star.ect with him.I had to give ground to them talking about qiaopai,golf,political and ties alike.Then these people wolud be happy to make friend with me,a reasonable guy.

✏️：Then I would never talk to that person about boa constrictors, or primeval forests, or stars. I would bring myself down to his level. I would talk to him about bridge, and golf, and politics, and neckties. And the grown-up would be greatly pleased to have met such a sensible man.通情达理的

复习：于是大人們就十分高興能認識我這樣一個通情達理的人
