A warning: if you think about these principles as you draft, you may never draft anything. Most experienced writers get something down on paper or up on the screen as fast as they can, just to have something to revise. Then as they rewrite an earlier draft into something clearer, they more clearly understand their ideas. And when they understand their ideas better; they express them more clearly, and when they express them more clearly, they understand them even better . . . and so it goes, until they run out of energy, interest, or time.
